It's been an extremely busy month at our house as my husband has started a new job, my son is settling into 3 year-old kinder, and we are all trying to get used to the new routine. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to post some tips for making the mornings run more smoothly. I am quickly learning that you can never be too organised in this area!
January & February wrap-up
Hi everyone! Today I'm doing a recap of everything that's been going on at The Organised You over the last 2 months, so you can catch up on anything you may have missed. It sure has been a busy start to the year, and I have really enjoyed going back and looking at everything I've managed to accomplish, rather than always focusing on the to-do list.
How to create a family command centre
In today's video, I'm showing you our new family command centre that we recently set out in our living room. This is a hard-working space in our home, where we store calendars, receipts, cleaning schedule and jobs, a cork board for displaying important info and lots more. Having this space really helps us be more organised, keeps everyone on track with what's going on, and ensures there are no paper clutter piles building up elsewhere in the house. Watch the video to see how I set up this newly organised space!
House inspiration binder
We have been planning our home renovation for a while now, and I absolutely can't wait to get started sometime in the very near future. I have 100s of ideas in my head, both from Pinterest and magazines, but now that we're in the planning stage, I was starting to get idea overload. So, I decided to add to my binder collection (read about our family household and finance binder) and make a 'house inspiration' binder.
How to cover a cork board
I am so excited to have nearly finished our family command centre, which I will sharing on The Organised You TV this Friday. I always planned to incorporate a cork board, but I wanted to cover it with a nice fabric to make it stand out. Cork boards are a fantastic addition to a command centre, home office or even a kids' bedroom to display artwork (like I did with my son's art pieces).
Our home office organisation
I'm popping in today with a quick post on how I sorted our home office drawers and cupboards. One of my goals for Jan-Feb was to get the office organised so that I can start working from there rather than at the kitchen table. I am itching to get started on repainting the walls, adding some open shelving, a filing cabinet and more storage. But before I get to pick up the paint-brush, I needed to get the office supplies decluttered and organised, which actually turned out to be a pretty quick job. Here's a look at how I did it...
