I'm just a little bit excited today to be giving you a sneak peek at our new kitchen! This video was actually filmed before we moved in, so it's a look at the bare bones of the kitchen layout... and yes, at this stage, there was still a fair bit of mess lying around, and dirty drawers. But I'm still super excited to show this great space off to you all today!
Well friends, it's been exactly 6 months since our renovation started, and I think it's safe to say that we are nearly ready to move back into our new home. So exciting! It's been quite a while since I've given you all an update, so today I'll be showing you around our abode - both the exciting new parts, and the not-so-great mess in the rest of the house. Nothing good in life comes easy, right? So although we've got quite a lot of work still ahead of us, we've also got a beautiful new space that's ready for our little family to start enjoying. Have you ever renovated your home? Or taken on a massive DIY project? If the answer is yes to either or both of these questions, then I'm sure you could relate to the mixed feelings we currently find ourselves experiencing with our home renovation. We've come to realize that such a massive project really is a roller-coaster of emotions that really impacts on your daily life - both in negative and positive ways. Although everyone warns you that it's going to be a crazy process, until you’re actually living through it, it’s hard to know just what it will be like for you personally.
Would you call yourself a DIYer? Are you someone who likes to do home projects yourself to save money, or do you prefer to call in the experts? If you've been keeping up to date with our current home renovation, you would know that we are very much the former - mad DIYers. We are currently smack bang in the middle of some serious painting work on the exterior of our new abode. Over the last 9 years, we have painted both the entire interior and exterior of our house. And now we're changing it all up and doing it again! #crazy.
Completing the painting yourself, especially during a renovation when it feels like your money is flying out the door, really is a massive cost saver. When we compared some of the quotes upwards of $20,000 just for the exterior painting to the cost of some new brushes, rollers and cans of paint, it was completely worth the effort to do it ourselves.

I previously shared with you all the big decisions we've made for our new home, so it'll be a really exciting process to see it all coming together over the next few months, as the 'building' part finishes and the finishing touches happen.
